The Wantastiquet-Monadnock Hikes continue (in this case also for bikes) …

This hike is a little different since we also welcome those on bicycles. After all, Pathways for Keene, the local bicycle group, is a member of the WM Trail Coalition.  This is a very modest hike, punctuated, if you wish, by a stop at Odelays, a casual diner in Keene.  You of course may bring your lunch and eat it on a bench in Keene.  Some of those who are on bikes are planning on going to the end and then coming back to meet the others at Odelays. Others on bikes may choose to do a couple of laps!

To avoid crossing Route 9 with a large group of people, we are starting the hike/bike at Stonewall Farm on Chesterfield Road, #242, in Keene.  Chesterfield Road is a turn to the north off Route 9 at the bottom of Chesterfield Hill.  Stonewall Farm is on both sides of the road about a mile down Chesterfield Road and go east for parking (right turn if coming from Route 9). We thank them for the generous offer of parking at their place.

Cosponsored by the Wantastiquet-Monadnock Trail Coalition, Pathways for Keene, and Keene Parks and Rec.

Registration will be required for this event; call 603-256-6082 or email to register.

The Friends of Pisgah is hosting the second annual canoe and kayak outing on beautiful Pisgah Reservoir this October 6th.  The Reservoir features numerous islands and a varied shoreline with stunning rock formations. The largest body of water in the Park is remote so this event is a rare opportunity.  All are invited.

Folks must arrive at the lower Pisgah State Park trailhead parking lot on NH Route 119 between Ashuelot and Winchester by 10:00 am so we can ready the boats for hauling.

The event will run from 10AM to 3 PM and preregistration is required.  Contact FOP at to register.   Complete and sign the attached registration form.  Either send the signed form to: Friends of Pisgah, Inc., PO Box 134, Chesterfield, NH 03443 or bring with you to the event.

FOP volunteers will shuttle boats and gear to the water up the steep road to the Reservoir where parking is limited.

Participants should bring their own boat; paddles; a life preserver for each person is mandatory; water and lunch.  Be prepared to hike from the upper parking lot. It is a steep road to the Reservoir as parking is limited to boat transport vehicles. Those unable to hike can be accommodated in boat transports upon request.

The rain date will be the following day Sunday, 10/7/18.
